Elder Scrolls Online Announcement

Today was a great day in the gaming world. Bethesda announced that rumors around The Elder Scrolls Online were real! I have been a huge fan of this series for a long time. I started playing with Morrowind and then put countless hours into Oblivion and now the same with Skyrim. The announcement of this series going into an MMO was huge for me.

The mmo genre is my favorite genre of games. I started off playing Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) and then went into several others after that. DAoC was and still is the best pvp mmo I've ever played as I'm sure it is for most people who played it. Well that's good news for those of us who love both DAoC and The Elder Scrolls. The game director for this project is Matt Firor, who was also a designer for DAoC.

TESO (The Elder Scrolls Online) allows players to roam all of Tamriel. Previous titles have only taken place in one "country" at a time such as Skyrim. This mmo will give you the ability to go anywhere in the world that you want. You can get your first look at many places such as Elsweyr, home of the Kajiit.

The pvp so far is setup very similar to DAoC. There will be three factions and the land of Cyrodiil will be the pvp zone. What made pvp in DAoC so great was the Frontiers, and this seems to be a direct correlation to that system. They've said that you fight over control of certain areas and ultimately for control of the Imperial City. Controlling the city gives your entire faction a buff. They haven't said what that will be yet but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough. Also, when your faction controls the Imperial city someone will actually be crowned as the Emperor. How this happens, we're still unsure.

The cover story for the June Game Informer is all about this game. They will have exclusive interviews and get details about the game. Make sure you check that out. I'll post more information as it becomes available.

I hope you're all excited!
